Paul was anxious to get outside and get his hands in the dirt this morning. Equipped with a planting tool (a.k.a. kitchen fork) he headed out to plant raspberries.

The campus these days is bustling with activity. It's been awhile since my last journal posting, I made the rounds to get up to speed on campus activity.

Our 2008 Good Samaritan bowling team members were stylin' in their turtle hats

Madina has been busy adding cob art in Old Main

Closets have been added in Old Main for additional storage

These are no ordinary closets...they have carpet walls

The finished look brightens the room and absorbs sound

Barb has been busy in the big greenhouse

The blueberry plants have arrived

The field just west of the HDT cottage - Graham is doing some experimenting with soil builders and wildlife forage mix

The section in front of the Mani-building has been worked up for planting

The crater has been filled and Graham seeded it with his wildlife forage mix

HDT's storage shed sits on the north side of the cabin

A cob tree is just as good as the real thing...at least this Robin thinks so

The area Red Hat ladies toured HUG

Jim prepares the smoker before heading into the bee pen

Fielding a phone call - one of many challenges when wearing the net

Justin gives the bees a dose of smoke

Jim and Justin check the brood box for eggs

An Ox Called Windy PDF Print E-mail

Windy is one of 23 statues located around the Brainerd Lakes area as part of the "Ox Trot ". The 5-foot high fiberglass statues are sponsored by area businesses, organizations and individuals and decorated by area artists.  The oxen will be on display from Fishing Opener through Labor Day.

The theme "Sustainablility Takes Flight"inspired artists Tony Powers and McKenzie Bass as they painted the Hunt Utilities Group Ox.  From the large roots, wings and bonsai tree of life down to the world in her eyes all aspects of windy represent the Earth and our environment.
