The cob vanity was the most recent addition to the cob apartment in the west end of Old Main.  Erika and Madina created cob bricks to form the vanity.  Polypavement was mixed into the cob used to create the sink, which makes it as hard as concrete and very durable.  Leaf imprints provide a decorative touch around the sink.

The few days of warm weather were just enough to get the rest of the solar panels up across the greenhouse. The next step will be to create passages for the super-heated air in the solar panels to be transported into underground storage.

Since the bees are preoccupied with keeping warm and the compost piles are frozen, handyman Jim Etzel has turned his attention to water recycling.  His current design cuts down on odors that were present with the previous design.  Jim constructed a plastic tub and filled it with rock, sand, another rock layer and topsoil housing several water loving plants.  The plants, multiple soil layers and charcoal have cleaned the water and eliminated the majority of the odors.

As of January 3, the wind turbine is back up and remarkably quiet.  Contrary to what it felt like, January breezes were pretty mild.  The cold weather added to the illusion of strong winds but the wind turbine, requiring at least 9-10mph winds was not deceived.

You can't accuse us of not being "on the ball" at work.  Inspired by Diane Norlin's fifth grade class, a few of the employees wanted to try sustituting stability balls for their chairs. Reviews so far are mixed as to whether the ball is a superior seating option.  If nothing else, they provide for interesting conversation.
